What are pull-out magnetic separators?
Magnetic separators with pull-out grids are so-called grid separators in a housing, which help separate magnetic impurities from dry mixtures in piping systems in non-continuous operations. They provide effective separation of dry mixtures in industrial sectors where dry homogeneous materials are processed.
Basic description of the design
At the heart of the magnetic separator are retractable magnetic grids, which are located inside a "house" of the housing structure. This housing is installed in the material piping system, ideally in a vertical position, so that the bulk material can fall freely. The magnetic grids create a magnetic field where impurities are induced and attracted to the surface of the tubes.
Fields of application for magnetic separators with pull-out grids
Pull-out magnetic separators are most commonly used in the following industries:
- Food industry (feed products) and agro-products industry
- Chemical industry and construction industry - production of building materials, ceramics and porcelain
- Manufacturing industry (plastics and rubber processing, waste recycling and sorting)
- Other industrial sectors where dry and free-flowing materials are processed
Separation of impurities to protect technology during operation:
- The main task of this separation is the effective removal of ferromagnetic impurities to protect technological equipment such as cutting knives, mills, etc. from damage.
- The separator is located in the process line.
- The magnetic cores of the grids are fitted with strong neodymium magnets.
- They enable the capture of medium, small and even smaller impurities (from 1.0 mm in size); core compositions in grades I or II are used.
Separation for product purity:
- The aim of separation is to ensure the purity of the final product, i.e. to clean the product itself from ferromagnetic impurities.
- The separator is located at the end of the production process or at several points during the process (the most effective method).
- The magnetic cores of the grids are fitted with the strongest neodymium magnets.
- They enable the capture of fine to the smallest impurities (from 1.0 µm), core compositions in grades III - VI are used.
Types and product lines of separators
The manufacturer MAGSY produces magnetic separators in 3 basic groups, which include several models according to the size of the separator. The MSV groups differ according to customer requirements – construction, design, type of processing according to the level of magnetic force, ease of cleaning and safety.
ECO
Magnetic separators with pull-out grids in the ECO series are designed for less demanding customers who do not place high demands on the ease of cleaning the magnetic grid. These are the lowest-priced MSVs of all the groups offered.

- Manual cleaning by gradually removing ferromagnetic impurities from the surface of the magnetic rods

CLASSIC
The magnetic separator in the Classic series is the most widely used type of grate separator for use in bulk materials. It offers reliable separation in a two-stage labyrinth and a user-friendly cleaning system.

How is the MSV cleaned?
The MSV cleaning system is simplified to the maximum with special cleaning agents, which we recommend purchasing. They increase the durability of the magnetic cores, cleaning comfort, and work safety when handling the grids.
Cleaning procedure
- The grid with cores is fixed in the holder on the cleaning agent
- The clip is released
- The cores are pulled out
- The removed cores are stored in a separate compartment
- Magnetic impurities fall freely from the empty grid into the waste container and residual impurities are wiped off with a brush.
