The equipment is intended for the separation of metallic magnetic impurities from media which, pursuant to Article 13 of Directive 2014/68/EU (PED), are not hazardous – media group 2. These in-line flow magnetic separators do not fall into any category of pressure equipment under Directive 2014/68/EU (Article 4(3)).
This is a double-shell magnetic separator. The inner body can be heated to prevent the material inside from solidifying.
The magnetic separator, intended exclusively for industrial use, ensures perfect cleaning of your liquid mixtures from ferromagnetic impurities (by ferromagnetic impurities we mean fully magnetic metals such as iron, nickel, cobalt, and iron-containing alloys, not paramagnetic, very weakly magnetic materials).
For proper operation, the mixtures to be cleaned (material flowing through the magnetic separator) must be:
- homogeneous,
- free-flowing and without lumps, so that the magnetic separator does not become clogged – see below
The magnetic separator is suitable for use only in non-continuous operations (during manual cleaning of the magnetic separator, the flow of the cleaned material must be stopped). It is installed only in horizontal pipelines (if vertical installation is required, do not use this product and contact us to confirm this type of installation), e.g. in the food and chemical industries, agriculture, waste processing, and in the production of building materials – see the list of suitable materials below.
The retractable magnetic separator is used as a pre-stage to protect technology so that metallic ferromagnetic impurities do not enter equipment they could damage, for example mill and shredder knives, nozzles of regranulation and granulation lines, injection molding machine nozzles, extrusion presses, pressing stations, shredding equipment, fine sieves, ceramic pressing stations, glass presses, etc. It can also be used to clean the mixture to the highest possible purity, where the separator is placed at the end of the production process just before packaging and dispatch, so that no contamination by metallic ferromagnetic material occurs during subsequent operations in the production plant. In this case, immediate sealing of the cleaned material into resealable packaging or other sealable containers is assumed. Thanks to the excellently designed magnetic labyrinth, a high capture rate of impurities is achieved (please read in detail below what ferromagnetic metal impurities this magnetic separator can capture).
The material flowing through the magnetic separator must be homogeneous, free-flowing, and without lumps to prevent overloading (clogging) of the magnetic separator with material. The materials we recommend and which, in our professional opinion and experience, are suitable for cleaning through this magnetic separator are listed below (we again point out that the material must be homogeneous, free-flowing, and without lumps). If the material from which you require separation of metallic ferromagnetic impurities (material to be cleaned) is not found in the list below, do not use this product and contact us for further clarification and possible recommendation of another magnetic separator or confirmation that this type is suitable for magnetic separation from your material.
Examples of materials suitable for magnetic separation using this magnetic separator:
- chocolate
- various food coatings and toppings
- milk-based liquid food materials
- baby food
- glaze in the ceramic industry
- cooling water (maximum temperature 40°C)
- cooling emulsions, oils (maximum temperature 40°C)
- yogurts
- ceramic mass (liquid and also free-flowing… in the case of free-flowing material, watch for abrasion; check the wear of the stainless steel cover more frequently)

We emphasize again that materials must be free-flowing, homogeneous, and without lumps, and non-abrasive. Throughput capacity varies depending on the material from which you require separation of ferromagnetic impurities; it cannot be determined unequivocally and differs for each type of material. If you are not sure about permeability/throughput capacity, do not use this magnetic separator and contact our commercial-technical department to recommend a different type of magnetic separator or to approve the use of this type.
Please note that the wall thickness of the protective tube is very small in order to achieve high magnetic induction (magnetic force) and pull-off force on its surface. Therefore, please also consider the speed at which the material will flow through the magnetic separator. Very high material speed may damage the magnetic tubes. This is individual for each type of material. It is not possible to precisely determine and prescribe which material should or may flow at what speed. At very high material speed, the protective tubes may bend or be punctured, and the entire product may be damaged. If you consider the material speed to be very high, do not use this product and contact our commercial-technical department to recommend a different type of magnetic separator or to approve the use of this type.
The maximum pressure that may occur in the pipeline is 6 bar. WARNING! This is the maximum pressure, meaning that even, for example, during pipeline cleaning, the pressure in the magnetic separator must not exceed 6 bar.
This magnetic separator captures (separates) metallic magnetic particles from a size of 1 µm and smaller (ferromagnetic in nature, immeasurable, magnetic dust) up to a size of approx. 5 mm (5x5x5 mm). In rare cases, the magnetic separator can also capture larger metal objects up to approx. 10 mm (10x10x10 mm). However, only a random occurrence of these impurities is assumed, up to a maximum of 1% of the total hourly capacity of the material flowing through the magnetic separator (regular cleaning of the magnetic separator from ferromagnetic impurities is assumed; this does not mean that the entire 1% of larger ferromagnetic impurities may remain on the magnetic tubes throughout the entire material flow). The content of these larger ferromagnetic impurities must not be higher. If the occurrence of these larger ferromagnetic impurities in your material is higher, do not use this magnetic separator and contact our technical-commercial department for professional advice. No larger objects than stated (max. diameter 5 mm, 5x5x5 mm) may enter the magnetic separator (onto the magnetic rods), except for the ferromagnetic impurities described above in a random amount. If you are concerned about the presence of larger ferromagnetic or other impurities/contaminants, it is necessary to install an upstream sieve with a mesh size of max. 5 mm so that these larger, unwanted objects are captured before entering the magnetic separator (after installing the sieve, it is necessary to consider reducing the capacity load/throughput of the magnetic separator). The sieve is not part of the magnetic separator delivery. We also point out the possibility that your material may contain a large amount of fine metal impurities (very fine metallic magnetic dust smaller than 1 µm), which can coat the magnetic tubes and make the magnetic separator impermeable (fine magnetic particles also accumulate the flowing material and overload the entire system). At the same time, the magnetic force/efficiency of the magnetic separator will be greatly reduced. If the magnetic tubes become coated immediately after starting the material flow through the magnetic separator and completely “disappear” in iron dust, this is not a defect of the magnetic separator; the magnetic separation must be strengthened by an additional magnetic separator or the magnetic tubes must be cleaned more frequently—your material probably contains a very large amount of ferromagnetic particles.
If you are not able to ensure:
- the absence of larger particles in your material than a diameter of 5 mm (5x5x5 mm)
- an amount of less than 1% of larger ferromagnetic particles (up to 10 mm) in the hourly capacity
- a minimal occurrence of fine metallic dust in your material
do not use this magnetic separator and contact our commercial-technical department to recommend a different type of magnetic separator or to approve the use of this type.
Magnetic rods (tubes) in the magnetic separator are designed to capture as many metallic magnetic impurities as possible. However, everything depends on the amount of these magnetic impurities present in your material. It is not possible to provide a binding guarantee that all ferromagnetic impurities will be captured. It is always necessary to consider the specific technology and capacities. If necessary, other types of magnetic separation must be installed upstream or added. Please do not rely solely on this single magnetic separator. If you are not sure, do not use this type of magnetic separator and contact our experts in the field of magnetic separation at any time.
Do not use the magnetic separator to separate stainless steel (commonly referred to as stainless), even if it appears to be magnetic/paramagnetic (this may occur, for example, after passing through various shredders or other forms of deformation; such paramagnetic stainless steels may also be used to manufacture various screens).
The magnetic separator is not intended for magnetic separation of non-ferrous non-magnetic metals, nor for magnetic separation of parts or their components that contain ferromagnetic metals (e.g., plastic shavings with embedded remnants of metal parts). If you need to separate (remove) such ferromagnetic impurities as well, do not use this magnetic separator and contact our magnetic separation experts, who will advise which other magnetic separator to use, or what type to add to your separation system.
The design of the magnetic separator allows water to be used for rinsing during cleaning without concern that any part could be damaged by water. All components are water-resistant with no risk of corrosion. Do not use pressurized water for cleaning and rinsing.
Be very careful when cleaning the magnetic separator; the magnetic cores are very strong after removal, and if they attach to metal objects, injuries may occur due to pinching or snapping together under pressure. Do not place them on anything magnetic (tables, workbenches, stair stringers, floors…). Also beware of individual components of the magnetic separator snapping toward each other during cleaning.
This magnetic separator is not intended for use in any environment classified as an explosive atmosphere (ATEX).
The magnetic separator is intended for indoor and outdoor use only. If installed outdoors, ensure regular inspection and maintenance of the warning symbols placed on the body of the magnetic separator.
Procedure for measuring magnetic induction
The measurement is performed using a standard gaussmeter with a probe thickness of 0.75 mm at the point of the highest magnetic induction by design – at the pole pieces, or at the lowest point of the arc of the magnetic circuit. The test is repeated 3 times, each time at a different location of the magnetic circuit, and the average magnetic induction is calculated.
Procedure for measuring pull-off force
We measure using a polished steel standard (etalon) with a diameter of 10 mm and a height of 20 mm. The measurement is performed at the point of the highest pull-off force by design – at the pole pieces, or at the lowest point of the arc of the magnetic circuit. We record the force at which the standard detached. The test is repeated 3 times and the average pull-off force is calculated.
For your information: 10 N = approx. 1 kg.
As confirmation of the measurement and a guarantee of the measured values, we issue a document; an original measuring protocol issued specifically for your particular magnetic separator (the protocol states the stock and production number) is included with every delivered magnetic separator.
WARNING:
The resulting pull-off force and magnetic induction depend on many factors – e.g., the dimensions of the standard, the air gap between the standard and the tested magnetic circuit, the thickness of the measuring probe, surface contamination, surface treatment of the standard, etc. The stated pull-off force and magnetic induction values were measured under ideal conditions of the test environment. However, these values may change depending on the specific type of environment, where, for example, operating conditions and subsequent wear may affect the product’s effectiveness and measurement results. The stated values must therefore be considered indicative, and any deviations cannot be considered a defect within the meaning of Section 2095 and Section 2161(1)(a) of the Civil Code. To determine the exact value of magnetic induction and pull-off force in a specific case, your own measurement is required. If the measured pull-off force values are not sufficient for you because they do not correspond to the stated values, you may use the guaranteed option to return the goods within 30 days under the conditions stated here: https://magnetickeseparatory.cz/vraceni-zbozi/ and purchase a different type of magnetic separator. These 30 days are intended precisely for testing the goods; after this period expires, the seller may refuse to accept the return.
